ADB to Fund Study on Cooperation with Mekong River Commission

MANILA, PHILIPPINES (6 May 2004) - ADB has approved a technical assistance grant of US$45,000 to carry out a study on cooperation opportunities with the Mekong River Commission (MRC) Community.

The study will draw up a medium-term program of joint initiatives (including research, capacity building, advisory and project preparatory technical assistance, and investment projects). The activities will be within a framework delineated by ADB's Greater Mekong subregion program and MRC's basin-wide strategies and program.

It will also analyze financing and partnership arrangements to highlight opportunities for maximizing effectiveness and efficiency of available funds.
